California Carnivores Professional Grade Peat and Perlite Mix

$ 12.99

This mix is ideal for American pitcher plants, Venus flytraps, most Sundews, and bladderworts.

This one-gallon bag is made up of about 1 part perlite to 4 parts professional grade peat moss. We use only the highest quality ingredients with our plants and you can too! Our peat moss is the Sunshine brand, professional-grade, milled Canadian sphagnum peat moss. The professional-grade usually isn't available at retail nurseries and costs about twice as much, but is a much finer quality.

One bag will roughly fill 12 of our 2" pots.

Mixing Instructions:

Mix all of the peat and perlite together in a large bowl. Be sure and wet it with distilled/rainwater before you begin mixing. This will keep the perlite dust to a minimum which is harmful to breathe in. Keep adding water and mixing until it is very soppy wet. Now you're ready to pot 'em up!

When purchasing your own peat and perlite at another nursery or hardware store, Beware of the MiracleGrow brand! There are added fertilizers that are harmful to carnivores.

Bought enough this time.

Had enough to repot the new plants and repot some of the old plants to new homes.

I got one of their plant kits before and those plants are doing so well I needed to repot them. And bc the plants did so well I trusted California carnivores to make quality dirt for the bigger pot and I was right. It's been a month and some and the plants are doing amazing!

Premium soil you can trust for your CPs

I have made mistakes in the past where I bought soil from places that almost killed many of my CPs. It is crucial to have the correct soil, with no fertilizer, the correct moss, etc. You can never go wrong with California Carnivores. They are the only place I get my soil. My only regret I have with them is I never got to the West Coast to see their gorgeous plants in person before their garden center closed to the public.
